Section 2 - Installation of RES
Installation for Windows
- Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive.
- Click Start in your taskbar (Fig. 1) and select "Run..."
- From the Run window (Fig. 2) type your CD-ROM Drive Letter and " \disk1\setup.exe" and click OK

- At Welcome window click Continue.
- When Installation Program prompts you for your name and organization, enter your name and the name of your political subdivision (please use your court's full name) and click OK (Fig. 3).

- RES will then show a window to confirm that the information you have entered is correct. If all information is correct, click OK to continue.
- To change the directory that RES is going to be installed in, click Change Directory, otherwise click OK. Unless you are installing RES for multiple courts, please install RES to the default directory.
- Click the Install button to begin installing RES.
- The installation should only take a few minutes. A window will pop up requesting a Political Subdivision and Key value (Fig. 4). Please contact OBS support for this information: 512-346-6511.

- After entering PSID and Key Value a window will ask, "Does this machine need to dial 9 to get an outside line?" Select YES at this time. The number will change after you start up the program.
- You should have a box with just a white screen on your monitor. Click on the white screen and it should disappear.
- The program will not put an icon on your desktop or add the program to your Program List. You will need to do this. To add a shortcut icon to your desktop, please follow these steps:
- Click on the icon My Computer on your desktop.
- If you used the default directory for the installation, click on the C drive.
- Click on the CDSRES folder.
- Scroll down until you see RES. There will be a little FOX icon next to it. Right click and select Copy from the selection window.
- Minimize the CDSRES window, if anything else is up, please minimize that as well.
- Right click a spot on your desktop where you want the icon to appear. Select Paste Shortcut from the selection window.
- Your shortcut icon should appear on your desktop. Double click the shortcut and RES should start up.
Political Subdivision Setup
After you have installed RES and you are logging in for the first time, it will ask you if you would like to convert files from 3.0 to 6.0 format, select YES. The login screen (Fig. 5) should appear. If you do not have a sign on and password, please contact OBS support: 512-346-6511.

Since this is the first time you have signed on, you will encounter the Political Subdivision Setup Screen (Fig. 6). This screen contains all the information regarding your political subdivision. This will also be where you will setup your Com Port for your modem.

Your Identification should already be entered, please verify that it is correct. Fill out the rest of the information for your court. Please also check your modem's Com Port settings are set correctly. If the Com Port is not correct, or if you don't know how to determine this, please contact your IT support or OBS support and they will assist you.
The phone number will have a 9 in front of the number. If you do not need a 9 or need to add a long distance code, please type CTRL-F10 and it will allow you to change the phone number.
After you have entered the information, hit SAVE and begin using RES.
