Entering a New Offense

  1. To add an offense, select "Add Offense" from the "Offenses" menu on the top of your screen. A blank form, titled "Offenses" will appear, so that you can input the necessary data (Fig. 1).
  2. Notice that the Disposition and Plea fields cannot be selected, they are light gray. They will remain this way until the violator has been confirmed by TDPS.

  1. Enter a Texas drivers license number. If the number is new to the database, a message window appears asking if you want to add a violator. Click OK, this will take you to the Violator Screen (Fig. 2). If the drivers license number currently exists in the database, the system will indicate the violator's name at the top of the "Offenses" screen.

Looking up an Offense or Violator

To Look Up Offense, select "Find an Offense" from the Offenses Menu at the top of your screen. Enter a docket number, press return, and you'll be taken to the screen for the appropriate violator.

To Look Up Violator select "View Violators" from the Violators Menu at the top of your screen. Double click the row which contains the violator name and the drivers license number that you want, or either click on the "Find Violator" button on the bottom left of the "View Violator" screen and enter the drivers license number of the violator. The violator screen will appear. Click on the "View Offenses" and the date, docket number, disposition, and total cost of each violation will appear.

Clearing a Violator

A Violator is Cleared by entering a Disposition and Plea. A violator's disposition can be changed after the offense has been confirmed by TDPS, status = "Confirmed." If the Disposition is light gray, the confirmation has not been received and you will not be able to clear this Offense. Try transmitting to pick up confirmations and then try again to change the Disposition and Plea.

To change the disposition, select either "Find Offense" or "View Offense" from the Offenses Menu.

If you select "Find Offense": Enter the docket number and click OK. Click on the arrow under "Disposition" and select the disposition you want. Click on the arrow under "Plea" and select the plea you want. Click on the "Save" button.

If you select "View Offense": Double click on the row which contains the docket number, date, fine, and violator name. You'll be taken to the Offenses Screen for that violator. Change the Disposition and the Plea by clicking on the arrows underneath these two fields.
